Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, the mutilated body of a 60-year-old man who had been missing for 20–25 days was recovered from a forest in the Olanda Sargaon area under Sadar police station limits in Balasore district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Kailash Pradhan, a resident of Olanda Sargaon village. Locals suspect a planned murder, as the body was found in a highly decomposed state with various body parts and bones scattered across different locations in the forest.
The gruesome discovery was made by women from the village who had gone into the forest to collect firewood. Upon spotting the remains, they immediately alerted the police.
A team from the local Sadar police station rushed to the spot and secured the area. The body is currently being guarded by police personnel. A scientific team and a special squad have been summoned to the location to investigate the mysterious death and gather forensic evidence.
