Vigilance Arrests AEE Baikuntha Nath Behera For Possessing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of ITDA, Baliguda in Kandhamal district, for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets.

Based on a raid conducted on his properties, Behera was found in possession of significant undeclared assets which he could not explain satisfactorily.

These include five multi-storeyed buildings with a total built-up area of over 20,000 square feet — including four palatial buildings in Bhubaneswar — 14 high-value plots, cash amounting to more than Rs 2.04 crore, approximately 500 grams of gold, and deposits worth Rs 45 lakh. One more bank locker operated in the name of his spouse is yet to be opened and examined.

Behera has been placed under arrest and will be forwarded today to the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. In this connection, Vigilance registered  acase against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.The investigation is continuing.
