Bhubaneswar: An aspirant appearing for the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Preliminary Examination was allegedly caught red-handed using unfair means while appearing for a test at an examination centre at the CDA area in Cuttack, on Sunday.
According to reports, the candidate, identified as Avinash Rout, was found concealing a mobile phone inside his undergarment and using an earphone during the test. Invigilators grew suspicious when he was repeatedly reading out questions aloud and subsequently discovered the malpractice. Following his detention, police arrested Avinash along with three accomplices who were allegedly assisting him from outside the examination hall.
The three associates — Soumyaranjan Sahu, Alex, and Rupesh — were reportedly stationed in the CDA and Badambadi areas and were dictating answers to him over the phone. Avinash was handed over to Markatnagar Police, who later arrested his accomplices after tracing the calls from his mobile phone.
Notably, Avinash Rout is employed as a supervisor with an outsourcing agency at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
