Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a woman and her brother-in-law died after being struck by lightning in Bandhahuin village of Hindol block on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Subashini Sahu and Ganeshwar Sahu. Subashini was the wife of former village president Brajabandhu Sahu. The two were related as sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
The incident occurred in Bandhahuin village under Baunshpokhari panchayat when lightning struck during a norwester accompanied by rain and thunderstorm. Villagers rushed both victims to Hindol hospital after the lightning strike. Doctors declared them dead after primary treatment.
The twin deaths have cast a pall of grief over Bandhahuin village. Local administration has been informed.
