Bhubaneswar: A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Bhubaneswar after two trains came dangerously close to each other on the same track near the Jharpada bridge area.
According to reports, one train was heading from Bhubaneswar towards Mancheswar, while the second train was travelling in the opposite direction from Mancheswar to Bhubaneswar.
The incident triggered panic among locals as the trains appeared to be on a direct collision course.
Thanks to prompt action and quick coordination by railway staff, a serious accident was successfully prevented at the last moment.
Meanwhile, the Railway authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to ascertain how the two trains ended up on the same track. Officials are examining whether any signalling failure or operational lapse was responsible.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
Further probe is underway to establish the exact cause and sequence of events.
