Bhubaneswar: A young man was stabbed and killed during a violent clash between two groups in Kendrapara. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Pattamundai Model Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Kailash Mallick, a resident of Kajalabandh village.

According to sources, the clash originated from a dispute between the families of Prabhakar Nayak and Pratap Nayak over plucking drumsticks at Ishanipalli village under Rajnagar police station limits. A verbal fight broke out between both the families on Wednesday.

The situation escalated when Pratap Nayak’s son Sushant allegedly brought 10 to 15 youths from nearby villages and launched an attack on the elder son of Prabhakar Nayak.

During the violent confrontation, Kailash Mallick, who tried to mediate to resolve the issue, was caught in the crossfire and suffered serious stab injuries during the clash. He was first rushed to Rajnagar Community Health Centre for treatment. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

It is worth noting that Prabhakar Nayak and Pratap Nayak are brothers, and they already have a long-standing land dispute pending in court.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
