Bhubaneswar: The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) of Northern Division announced a public holiday on June 20 in Sambalpur district on account of the famous Sital Sasthi festival.
As per the notification issued by the Northern RDC, all government offices, departments, and educational institutions under Sambalpur sub-division will remain closed on this day.
The holiday has been declared as per the earlier notification issued by the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Northern Division.
Sital Sasthi is one of the most important festivals of Western Odisha, particularly celebrated with great fervour in Sambalpur. It marks the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is observed with traditional rituals, processions, and cultural programmes.
Meanwhile, Sambalpur Police have deployed 80 platoons of security personnel to ensure smooth conduct of the festival without disruption.
