Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a strong advisory for fishermen, warning of squally weather and rough sea conditions along and off the Odisha coast over the next four days.
According to the IMD bulletin, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is very likely to prevail from Thursday, June 18 to Sunday, June 21, 2026. Sea conditions are expected to turn rough to very rough during this period, making marine activities hazardous.
Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast during these four days. The warning aims to prevent potential loss of life and damage to boats and fishing equipment.
Local fishermen and boat operators are urged to heed the warning and stay ashore. Those already at sea are advised to return to the coast at the earliest opportunity.
