Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in the Nivaranpur area of Ranchi. Police said two people have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

The attack took place late Tuesday night when petrol bombs were hurled at the RSS office premises. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which show two youths throwing petrol bombs towards the building. One of the bombs exploded, while the other failed to detonate. No injuries or major damage to the premises have been reported.

Considering the seriousness of the case, an SIT has been formed to probe the case. A dog squad and a forensic team have also been deployed in the investigation.

The police are trying to piece together the sequence of events based on evidence collected from the spot, CCTV footage, and the interrogation of the detained suspects.

Officials said efforts are underway to identify other possible suspects and ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said police teams and forensic experts rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. Evidence from the scene has been collected, and a detailed investigation is underway.

Following the incident, several senior BJP leaders visited the RSS office to assess the situation and spoke to Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra, seeking swift action in the matter. The DGP assured them that the investigation is progressing rapidly and the culprits will be arrested soon.

Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das condemned the attack and demanded a fair and thorough probe. He said not only should the attackers be arrested, but any larger conspiracy behind the incident must also be uncovered.

Das added that he had earlier urged the DGP to constitute an SIT and welcomed the prompt action taken in this regard.

Condemning the attack, leader of opposition Babulal Marandi said, “The incident of petrol bombs being thrown at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office located in Nivarnpur, Ranchi, in the early hours of midnight last night is extremely serious and alarming. In this regard, instructions have been issued to the Ranchi SP, DC, and the DGP of @jharkhandpolice to swiftly identify and arrest the culprits.”
