Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on June 20, 2026, with President Droupadi Murmu joining him during the visit, making it a rare and significant occasion for the State.At around 11:15 AM, the President and the Prime Minister will visit Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district.
“I will be in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, tomorrow, on 20 June. This visit will be noteworthy because the President will participate in this program. Mayurbhanj is also the home district of the Hon’ble President Droupadi Murmu Ji,” Modi wrote on X.
They will offer prayers at the sacred groves of Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera, and visit the Skill Centre and Pahadpur School. The visit aims to highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen educational opportunities, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural regions.
At around 1 PM, the President and Prime Minister will participate in a programme at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, marking the completion of two years of the Odisha Government. Themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, the event will see the inauguration and foundation stone laying of various development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering.
The projects span key sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation. Officials said the initiatives are expected to strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, enhance energy security, and generate employment across Odisha, with a special focus on tribal and rural areas.
Among the major projects, foundation stones will be laid for the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and the Stage-II Expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station with two 660 MW units. The Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited Project at Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda, will also be launched to promote cleaner coal use and reduce import dependence.
Other key projects include a 300 TPD Municipal Solid Waste-based Compressed Biogas Plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi river linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, widening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga Road in Boudh, four-laning of a section of NH-353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada, Kusumdihi Megalift Irrigation Project, an IGNOU Regional Centre, and an Indoor Badminton Complex at Rairangpur.
Projects to be inaugurated include the 300-bedded District Headquarters Hospital at Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands, nine Automated Testing Stations, Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH-57, Underground Pipeline of Kusumi Smart Irrigation Project, Jakhapura-Jajpur Keonjhar Road-Baitarani Road Multi-Tracking Project, Hindol Road-Meramandali Multi-Tracking Project, Sports Complex, and Tribal Research Centre at Rairangpur. The visit reflects the Centre’s focus on inclusive development and accelerating growth in Odisha’s tribal and rural regions.
