Bhubaneswar: Two brothers were killed after their motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck on National Highway-57 near Dighiri under Bolagarh police station limits in Khordha district late on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Akash Pradhan and Bikash Pradhan, residents of Dighiri village.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a truck that had broken down was parked on the highway near Dighiri. The brothers, who were reportedly returning home on their motorcycle, rammed into the rear of the stationary vehicle. The impact of the collision was severe, and both riders sustained critical head injuries.
Locals rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and shifted the injured brothers to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared them brought dead.
On being informed, police reached the spot, initiated an investigation, and seized both the motorcycle and the truck involved in the accident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway.
