G.Udayagiri: Police in Kandhamal district have launched an investigation into allegations of gang rape made by a minor girl, following the transfer of an FIR from Phulbani Town Police Station to G. Udayagiri Police Station.
According to police sources, the minor girl, a resident of another police station jurisdiction in the district, submitted a written complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted by several persons at a hotel in the G. Udayagiri area.
As the victim stated that the alleged incident occurred within the jurisdiction of G. Udayagiri Police Station, the case was formally transferred from Phulbani Town Police Station on June 22. Subsequently, G. Udayagiri IIC Vijay Kumar Swain registered the case and initiated an investigation.
Police have maintained strict confidentiality regarding the matter, describing it as highly sensitive. Investigators have refrained from disclosing details related to the accused, the location, or the circumstances of the alleged crime, stating that premature disclosure could affect the ongoing probe.
Officials confirmed that the investigation is underway and said further information would be shared after significant progress is made in the case.
Police are continuing their inquiry to establish the facts and identify those responsible.
