Odisha Likely To Witness Thunderstorms And Heavy Rainfall Over Next Week: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a detailed date-wise weather forecast for Odisha, indicating continued thunderstorm activity, gusty winds, and spells of heavy rainfall over the next several days.

On June 28, an orange warning has been issued for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Yellow warnings are also in place for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Balangir.

Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Koraput, while hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail at isolated places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

On June 29, an orange warning continues for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

Yellow warnings include thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh, and (30-40 kmph) over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Balangir.

Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over Kandhamal, Koraput, and Rayagada.

On June 30, orange warning has been issued for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.

Under yellow warning, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is likely over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh. Heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places over Nabarangapur and Koraput.

On July 1, an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Koraput district. Yellow warnings include thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Additionally, thunderstorm with winds (30-40 kmph) is likely over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, and Nabarangapur.

Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

On July 2, orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Sundargarh and Koraput districts. Yellow warnings cover thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Thunderstorm activity (30-40 kmph) is expected over Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nabarangapur, while heavy rainfall is likely over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

On July 3, a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over Keonjhar district.

On July 4, yellow warning for heavy rainfall at one or two places has been issued for Rayagada and Koraput districts.

The IMD has advised people in the affected districts to remain alert, especially during thunderstorms and heavy rain spells.

Also, farmers, fishermen, and those in vulnerable areas are requested to take necessary precautions.
