Bhubaneswar: Angul police arrested a man for posing as a police constable near the SP office after receiving a tip-off. The accused has been identified as Rabi Narayan from Chhendipada in Angul district.
Acting on the information, Angul town police reached the spot and detained him for questioning. He was found wearing a police uniform with a name plate and batch.
He was taken to the police station for further interrogation. During questioning, police recovered a fake joining letter of the Odisha Police from him. He admitted to forging the letter himself.
He also confessed that he had purchased the uniform and dress code from the market. The accused told police he had long dreamt of becoming a policeman but failed to clear recruitment tests despite multiple attempts.
He said repeated failures left him mentally disturbed, prompting him to take this step and impersonate a cop. Police have initiated legal action against him as per law.
