Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident has come to the fore from Kabisuryanagar area in Ganjam district, where a leopard was allegedly killed and hung from a tree.
According to reports, the carcass of the leopard was found hanging from a tree near a crusher unit at the foothills close to Jarada village under Kabisuryanagar police station limits. It is suspected that the leopard died after getting trapped in a snare set by poachers.
Upon receiving information, Kabisuryanagar police along with officials from the Polasara Forest Division rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the leopard’s death and identify those responsible. The exact cause of the leopard’s death will be ascertained after the post-mortem.
Local people and wildlife lovers have strongly demanded strict action against the culprits under the Wildlife Protection Act.
