Bhubaneswar: The Transport Department has launched a special inspection campaign across the state to crack down on unfit vehicles plying without valid documents.
RTOs in Puri, Talcher, Bhubaneswar, Nuapada, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur and other districts are carrying out checks to identify vehicles operating without proper fitness certificates, insurance and permits.
Officials said the drive is aimed at reducing road accidents and ensuring road safety. Action is being taken against violators under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The department has warned that legal action can be taken if a vehicle is found plying without valid insurance. Authorities have adopted a strict approach against unfit and non-compliant vehicles during the campaign.
Transport officials have urged vehicle owners to ensure all documents are up to date to avoid penalties.
