Digapahandi: A six-year-old girl was seriously injured after being bitten by a stray dog on the premises of a school in Ganjam district on Tuesday, officials said.
The incident occurred at Mahanala village under Sanakhemundi block when the Class I student had reportedly gone behind the school building to urinate. A stray dog allegedly attacked and bit the child, leaving her grievously injured.
Teachers, school staff and local residents rushed to her rescue and shifted her to the Adapada Community Health Centre for treatment.
The injured girl was identified as Jhansi Rani Sahu, daughter of Ranjan Sahu of Patpur village. Hospital sources said she was undergoing treatment.
