Sundaragada: An alleged incident of abduction and gang-rape of a minor girl has sparked outrage in the Bandega outpost area under Talasara police station limits of Sundaragada district.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, the incident took place late last night. The minor girl, a resident of Chhattisgarh, had come to stay at her uncle’s house in Bandega.
As per the complaint, when she went out of the house, she was allegedly abducted by two men on a bike and taken to a nearby forest. The family has alleged that seven men were involved in the crime. After the girl returned home and informed her family, they approached the police station with the help of a social worker and lodged a complaint.
Talasara police immediately registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials said five persons have been detained in connection with the case so far. Further legal action is underway. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirmal Mahapatra, Talasara Police Station IIC Yashobanti Bagh and a police team visited the spot and are conducting a search operation in the area.
Police said the investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace the remaining accused. The incident has created widespread anger in the district.
