Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar-Kataka has announced traffic restrictions and diversions around ISKCON Temple, Bhubaneswar for the upcoming Ratha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesha 2026 to ensure smooth movement of devotees and vehicles.
According to a traffic advisory issued by Commissioner of Police Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh, a huge congregation of devotees is expected on the way to and in and around the ISKCON Temple during the festivals. The Ratha Yatra will be held on July 16, Bahuda Yatra on July 24 and Sunabesha on July 25.To manage the crowd and ensure hassle-free movement, the police have imposed several traffic regulations under the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 and Bhubaneswar-Kataka Police Commissionerate Traffic and Public Order Regulation, 2008.
Traffic restrictions for Ratha Yatra & Bahuda Yatra
For July 16 and July 24, from 3:00 PM onwards, heavy vehicles coming from the Khordha side will not be allowed to ply on the service road towards Fire Station Square until the chariots pass CRP Square. During this period, no vehicles will be allowed on either side of the road from DAV School, Unit-VIII to Mausimaa Mandir and CRP Square, and also from CRP Square towards ISKCON Temple.
In addition, vehicles will not be permitted on the service road from the Kasturba School side and the Nayapalli underpass side towards CRP Square until the chariots pass CRP Square.
Traffic restrictions for Sunabesha
On July 25, no vehicles will be allowed to ply from CRP Square towards ISKCON Temple from 5 PM till the end of Sunabesha Darshan.
The Commissionerate Police clarified that these restrictions will not apply to emergency vehicles including Police, Fire and Ambulance services.
Urging the public to cooperate, the Bhubaneswar-Kataka Commissionerate Police requested commuters to plan their routes accordingly and follow instructions of traffic personnel deployed at key points to avoid congestion during the festivals.
