Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s focus on building a future-ready skilled workforce received another boost as 506 students graduated from the World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, after successfully completing advanced, industry-aligned training programmes.
Attending the 7th Graduation Ceremony as the Chief Guest on Monday, Odisha’s Minister for Skill Development & Technical Education and Industries, Sampad Chandra Swain, said the occasion was a celebration of the aspirations, perseverance, and limitless potential of the State’s youth. He noted that the ceremony symbolised not merely the awarding of certificates but also the creation of a skilled workforce capable of contributing to Odisha, the nation, and the global economy.
The Minister said skill development remains a key pillar in achieving the vision of “Samruddha Odisha by 2036” and contributing to the national goal of “Viksit Bharat by 2047.” He added that the State Government is placing special emphasis on next-generation skills to prepare young people for emerging technologies and future industries.
Of the 506 graduates, 261 are women, accounting for more than 51 per cent of the graduating batch and reflecting the increasing participation of women in advanced, industry-linked skill education. More than 93 per cent of the graduates have already secured placements in reputed national and international companies. Notably, eight graduates have secured placements with Dubai-based Al Ghurair, further strengthening the global recognition of the “Skilled-in-Odisha” brand.
On the occasion, Swain inaugurated the Spatial AI Lab at the World Skill Center. Established in collaboration with EON Reality (USA) and ITEES (Singapore), the lab aims to equip students with advanced capabilities in Spatial AI and Geospatial Technologies.
Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department, and Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, Chief Executive Officer, World Skill Center, along with senior officials, industry partners, faculty members, and distinguished guests, were present at the event.
