Twisha Sharma’s Father Denies Reports Of Skin Tissue Found On Belt

Bhopal: Dowry death victim Twisha Sharma’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, on Tuesday denied reports claiming skin tissue was found on the alleged ligature material of a gymnastics belt that was purportedly not produced during her first post-mortem examination.

Speaking to IANS, Twisha’s father said: “There is no source of such information. Nobody is claiming…who has spread the news that tissue was found on a belt? Because there is no official reflection on this.”

He also said that the family’s future step in the case will depend on the charge sheet that will be filed by the CBI.

Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on the night of May 12. While her in-laws claimed she died by suicide, her maternal family alleged that she was murdered.

Meanwhile, a Bhopal district court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of the victim’s mother-in-law and former district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh, accused in the case, till July 28 after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the court that both of them had not cooperated during the collection of their voice samples.

Further, the court granted fresh permission to the CBI to collect voice samples of Giribala and Samarth Singh.

Counsel for Twisha Sharma’s family, advocate Ankur Pandey, said: “Today, the CBI filed an application under Section 349 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), seeking the court’s permission to collect the voice samples of both the accused. During the previous hearing too, the CBI had moved a similar application. At that time, the accused had stated, with certain objections, that they were willing to provide their voice samples. However, when CBI officials visited the jail, accused Samarth Singh refused to give his voice sample.”

He added that Giribala Singh had given her voice sample once but refused to cooperate when the CBI required more voice samples.

“On the basis of these, today, the CBI again filed an application under Section 349 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), seeking the court’s permission to collect the voice samples of both the accused,” the lawyer told IANS.

Moreover, he said that the defence raised objection during the hearing, seeking to avail the evidence in the case and also sought to know the context under which voice samples were being required.

“After listening to both sides, the magistrate granted permission to CBI to take voice samples of both the accused,” he said.

The court also heard an application filed by Twisha’s family seeking a copy of the post-mortem report. According to the family’s lawyers, AIIMS Bhopal informed the court that the post-mortem report and related documents had already been submitted to the CBI in a sealed cover and, therefore, could not be provided separately.
