Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has summoned former IAS officer Rajesh Verma and former IT Secretary Manoj Mishra in connection with the case of missing inquiry commission reports from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Police have asked both officers to appear before the Investigating Officer within three days and provide information regarding the missing files. The case was registered by Commissionerate Police following a government order for a probe into the sensitive matter.
According to the FIR filed by Home Department Joint Secretary Sarat Chandra Marandi at Capital Police Station, two key reports are missing. The missing documents include the Justice A S Naidu-led judicial commission report on the 2008 killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and others at Jaleshpeta Ashram in Kandhamal district.
The second is the Revenue Divisional Commissioner inquiry report into the 2016 fire tragedy at SUM Hospital and Medical College. As per the Home Department, the Naidu commission report was forwarded to the Chief Secretary’s office on September 16, 2016, and was subsequently sent to the CMO on September 19.
Similarly, the RDC inquiry report was dispatched to the Chief Secretary’s office on May 23, 2018, and later sent to the CMO the next day. Police said the investigation is underway to ascertain how and when the files went missing from the CMO.
