Sonpur: In view of continuous heavy rainfall for the past two days, the Sonpur district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the district today.
On the instructions of District Collector Nruparaj Sahu, Emergency Officer Chittaranjan Mishra directed the District Education Officer over phone this morning to announce a holiday for all schools. Subsequently, District Education Officer Meenarani Pradhan issued orders to close all government and private schools in the district.
However, many Shishu Vidya Mandirs, which usually open at 6 am, remained open despite the holiday order. As a result, students and parents faced severe difficulties while commuting in heavy rain. Parents and students have expressed strong resentment over the school authorities’ failure to implement the administration’s order.
