Banaigada (Sundaragada): Two persons, including a man and a woman, died in separate snakebite incidents in Sundaragada district on Saturday.
The first incident was reported from Teldiha village under Banaigada police limits, where Parshuram Kisan was bitten by a snake after stepping outside his house to answer nature’s call early on Saturday. Family members rushed him to Banaigada Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition, but doctors declared him dead.
In the second incident, Raimuni Munda, a resident of Phuljhar village, was bitten by a snake while she was sleeping at her mother’s house in Bhaliadihi village under Kurda Panchayat within Lahunipada police limits.
Her family initially took her to a local traditional healer in the hope of saving her.
However, as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Banaigada Sub-Divisional Hospital, where she succumbed during treatment.
After being informed by the victims’ families, police from Banaigada and Lahunipada reached the hospital. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and separate cases of unnatural death have been registered.
