Bhubaneswar: A young man allegedly jumped into the Mahanadi River today, leaving behind his motorcycle and mobile phone on the bridge.
The youth has been identified as Tukuna Sahu, a resident of Krushnapur village under Banki area.
The matter came to light when his motorcycle was found parked abandoned on Mundali Bridge. This raised suspicions that he may have jumped into the Mahanadi. On being informed, Baranga police and fire service teams rushed to the spot.
A search operation was immediately launched in the river and surrounding areas to trace the missing youth.
Athagarh police also reached Mundali and have started an inquiry into the incident. The exact reason behind the alleged jump is yet to be ascertained.
