Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will hold an Investors’ Roadshow in New Delhi in August to showcase investment opportunities in the food processing sector and attract industries to the state, Industries and Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said on Saturday.
The roadshow is part of the state’s ongoing investment promotion drive aimed at bringing employment-intensive industries and encouraging investors to explore emerging opportunities in Odisha.
Swain said the government will engage with industrialists and investors in New Delhi and highlight the state’s potential in the food processing sector, which has been identified as a key area for future growth.
“Odisha has emerged as a key investment destination. Over the last two years, the state has attracted investments from sectors including textiles, renewable energy, chemicals and petrochemicals, and new-age industries. We are now focusing on attracting more investments in the food processing sector,” Swain told reporters.
The minister said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will interact with investors during the Delhi roadshow and discuss the opportunities available in Odisha.
The state government is focusing on sectors that can generate large-scale employment and is working to attract industries that have not yet established a strong presence in Odisha, Swain said.
“Our priority is to bring industries with high employment potential and attract sectors that are currently not present in Odisha. The government has been working towards this objective over the last two years,” he added.
The minister highlighted Odisha’s growing position as an investment destination and said the state has witnessed significant progress through a number of groundbreaking ceremonies and project inaugurations in recent years.
He said the government’s industrial expansion plans are aligned with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision of building a ‘Samruddha Odisha, Viksit Odisha’.
Apart from attracting investments, the government is also focusing on developing skilled manpower to ensure that local youth benefit from the employment opportunities created through new industrial projects, Swain said.
“Industrial development and skill development will go hand in hand. The aim is to ensure that the youth of Odisha get maximum benefits from the investments coming to the state,” he added.
