Bhubaneswar: With Mahaprabhu Lord Jagannath and his siblings on their nine-day divine journey to the Gundicha Temple for Rath Yatra, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has commenced major conservation and inventory work inside the 12th century shrine.
An ASI team along with the technical team of the temple administration inspected the temple on Friday following a key meeting at the temple office chaired by Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee.
During this period when the Holy Trinity is away, conservation work will be carried out in the Garbhagriha, Nata Mandap and Bhog Mandap. The Central Building Research Institute and IIT Madras are undertaking the repair and conservation work of these structures. As part of the upgrade, the Nata Mandap will also be air-conditioned. Work for the same has already started.
The administration will also begin the counting and valuation of jewellery from Saturday.”3D scanning will be done along with the inventorisation of Mahaprabhu’s Rahu Rekha, Jhoba, Suna Chita, Rupa Rasik Sua Thantia,” Padhee said after the meeting.
“As the Holy Trinity is out of the temple to Gundicha temple. This is the opportunity to inventory these ornaments,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mahaprabhu’s Adapa Bije Niti will be held today at Gundicha Temple. All preparations have been completed by the temple administration for the ritual.
With the Lord’s Adapa Pahandi scheduled for this evening, lakhs of devotees have already gathered at Gundicha Temple since last night and this morning.
“Countless devotees, who follow all the rules of the administration, should get the darshan and grace of Mahaprabhu,” the Chief Administrator said.
