Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Odisha on a three-day tour from August 3 to 5, during which she will travel to Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Brahmapur and Taptapani in Ganjam district, according to a draft programme prepared by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The draft itinerary has been shared with the Odisha government and the concerned departments for necessary arrangements.
According to the schedule, the President will arrive in Bhubaneswar on August 3 at 2.10 pm and stay at Lok Bhavan. Later in the day, she will travel to Kataka to attend the inauguration ceremony of Jagadguru Kripalu University as the chief guest.
On the morning of August 4, President Murmu will board a special train from Bhubaneswar to Brahmapur railway station. From there, she will proceed by road to Taptapani and offer prayers at the Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple.
After the temple visit, the President is expected to stay overnight at the Army’s Air Defence College in Gopalpur or another designated location, the draft programme said.
Extensive security arrangements are being put in place in Bhubaneswar, Kataka and Brahmapur in view of the President’s visit. Security personnel have been deployed along the route from the airport to the programme venues, while special traffic management measures are also being implemented, officials said.
Further details of the President’s engagements on August 5 are expected to be announced after the finalisation of the itinerary.
