Bhubaneswar: Reaffirming its commitment to community health and child well-being, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, partnered with the District Health Department, Jharsuguda, to support the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign across 16 designated booths in Jharsuguda.
Conducted under the Government of India’s nationwide Pulse Polio Programme, the initiative successfully immunised over 1,500 children below the age of five, strengthening efforts through timely vaccination, community outreach and last-mile healthcare delivery.
The Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign is a flagship public health initiative aimed at ensuring that every eligible child receives the oral polio vaccine and remains protected from the disease.
As part of its broader commitment to enhancing healthcare outcomes in its operational regions, Vedanta Aluminium actively collaborates with government agencies and local stakeholders to promote preventive healthcare and strengthen community well-being.
The campaign in Jharsuguda brought together healthcare personnel, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, Anganwadi functionaries, field volunteers and community mobilisers to ensure comprehensive coverage across the block.
Vedanta Aluminium extended logistical support, community mobilisation and on-ground coordination to facilitate seamless implementation. A high-level monitoring team from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited multiple booths and appreciated the quality of implementation, adherence to vaccine cold-chain protocols, systematic record-keeping and effective coordination.
Speaking about the initiative, C Chandru, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, said, “Protecting children’s health is essential to building stronger and more resilient communities. Through this partnership, we are supporting the district administration in extending critical preventive healthcare services to every eligible child. The strong participation of families across Jharsuguda reflects the impact of coordinated grassroots mobilisation, and we remain committed to advancing accessible healthcare through meaningful partnerships.”
