Bhubaneswar: Former IAS officer VK Pandian, who earlier served as ex-aide to former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, did not turn up before the Capital Police on Saturday for questioning in connection with the alleged disappearance of key inquiry commission reports from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Pandian informed the Commissionerate Police via email that he is currently out of the country and cannot appear in person as asked. He requested that his statement be recorded over video call.

He added that if that is not possible, he will present himself before the investigators immediately after coming back to India.

Earlier, the police had served him a notice to appear on July 25 in connection with allegations that two crucial commission reports went missing from the CMO. The case involves the records of the Justice A.S. Naidu Commission, which probed the 2008 murder of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Kandhamal, and the RDC’s report on the 2016 fire at SUM Hospital and Medical College in Bhubaneswar.
