Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast warning for Puri predicting light intermittent rain in the next six hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 10am, the holy city is expected to witness a generally cloudy sky with light intermittent rain during the next six hours. The temperature is likely to hover between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius with humidity levels remaining high at 78-88 per cent.
The Met Centre Bhubaneswar has urged pilgrims and devotees to stay alert, particularly regarding lightning and thunderstorm activity. Authorities advised people to move to safe permanent shelters during heavy rain, lightning or strong winds and avoid taking shelter under trees, electric poles or temporary structures. Devotees have also been asked to stay hydrated, monitor official weather updates, and take precautions while walking on wet roads around the Grand Road (Bada Danda).
The weather advisory comes as large numbers of devotees have gathered in Puri for the sacred Niladri Bije ritual, the concluding ceremony of the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra.
