Maoist Arms Dump Recovered In Chhattisgarh; 297 Live Cartridges Seized In Joint Operation

Raipur/Narayanpur: A concealed Maoist dump containing 297 live cartridges has been recovered during intensive search operations in a recently liberated area of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.

The recovery was made by a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) Narayanpur and the 53rd Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The operation was conducted on July 26 in the forested stretch between Kasod and Kumeradi, near the Adingpar camp, under the jurisdiction of Orchha Police Station.

Acting on the continuing campaign to flush out residual Maoist war materials after the area was freed from Left-Wing Extremism, the joint team of District Police Force, DRG Narayanpur and ITBP personnel thoroughly combed the region and located the hidden dump.

From the dump, security forces seized 195 rounds of 7.62 mm and 102 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, taking the total recovery to 297 live cartridges.

The materials have been formally seized as per procedure and further legal action is in progress.

Officials noted that since the area’s liberation from Maoist influence, security forces have been carrying out sustained and intensive search operations to locate weapons, ammunition, explosives and other war-related materials left behind by the extremists.

These efforts continue to deplete the residual resources of Maoist groups while reinforcing peace, security and the rule of law in the region.

The Chhattisgarh Police in Narayanpur has appealed to the public to immediately inform the nearest police station or security forces if any suspicious object, weapon, ammunition or material suspected to have been hidden by Maoists is found in forest areas.

The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

The police reiterated that the campaign to build a Maoist-free, safe and peaceful Narayanpur with the active cooperation of citizens will continue without interruption.
