Bhubaneswar: Two members of the same family died in Sagarpali Ekaphalia Pada village under Rengali police station in Jharsuguda district on Monday, leaving the village in grief.
According to reports, Sunil Patania, 26, was bitten by a poisonous snake while he was sleeping at home last night. He informed his family members immediately. Family members rushed him to Lakhanpur Community Health Center.
Doctors there declared him dead. A hearse van later brought the body to Jharsuguda. After post-mortem, police handed over the body to family members.
While family and villagers were performing Sunil’s last rites, his grandfather Indrajit Patania, 75, suddenly fell unconscious at the cremation ground. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
It was revealed that Indrajit was already suffering from kidney disease.
The twin tragedies have cast a shadow of grief over Sagarpali Ekaphalia Pada village.
