Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday commended disaster response teams for the timely rescue of a pregnant woman from flood-affected Balasore district, calling it a reflection of the state’s commitment to protecting lives during emergencies.
Monitoring the flood situation from Delhi, the CM took to social media to acknowledge the efforts. “In the midst of adverse flood conditions, a pregnant woman from Bagirathipur village in Balasore was rescued safely and taken to hospital on time. Your safety and service remain our top priority. The people’s government is dedicated to ensuring that every life receives protection and essential aid during a crisis,” Majhi posted.
According to the state government, three deaths have been reported so far due to floods. Rescue teams have also evacuated several people trapped in inundated and hard-to-reach areas.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the administration is on high alert and working to ensure relief and medical support reach affected families.
“Every single life matters to this government. Our teams are on the ground to provide timely help,” Pujari said.
He also dismissed allegations by the opposition BJD that the government was insensitive toward flood victims, asserting that relief and rescue work is being carried out on priority across impacted districts.
Officials said monitoring of rivers and vulnerable pockets continues as rainfall persists in parts of the state.
