Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls in Odisha, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on September 21, 2026.
The Commission has fixed July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date for the SIR exercise in the state.
According to the revised timeline issued by the ECI, the period for filing claims and objections will continue from July 5 to August 19, 2026. During this period, eligible voters and other stakeholders can submit their claims and objections for the inclusion, correction, or deletion of entries in the electoral rolls.
The Commission has scheduled the period from July 5 to September 17, 2026, for issuing notices, conducting hearings, and disposing of claims and objections. Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will scrutinise the applications and take decisions as per the prescribed procedures.
After completion of all stages, including the scrutiny and disposal of claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be published on September 21, 2026, as per the revised schedule.
The revision exercise aims to ensure that electoral rolls accurately reflect the eligible electorate by including new voters and removing errors, duplicate entries, and other discrepancies.
The SIR-2026 is part of the Commission’s efforts to maintain a clean, updated, and transparent electoral database. The exercise is expected to strengthen the credibility of the electoral process by ensuring that only eligible citizens are included in the voters’ list.
The ECI has urged eligible citizens to actively participate in the revision process and verify their details in the electoral rolls to ensure accuracy and avoid discrepancies before the final publication.
