Bhubaneswar: Around 40 platoons of police personnel will be deployed across Bhubaneswar and Kataka as part of elaborate security arrangements for President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to Odisha from August 3 to 5, Commissioner of Police Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh said on Saturday.
Addressing mediapersons, Singh said the Bhubaneswar-Kataka Police Commissionerate has put in place a multi-layered security plan covering all venues, transit routes, and key installations to ensure a smooth and incident-free visit.
Adequate security personnel will be deployed at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar railway station, and other locations under the Commissionerate Police’s jurisdiction. Tight security will also be maintained along the routes connecting the airport, railway station, and programme venues.
“SP-rank officers will supervise security arrangements at all venues and along the designated routes, while DCP-rank officers will oversee traffic regulation and route management. Senior officers will remain stationed at the airport and railway station to monitor the President’s movement,” Singh said.
The Commissioner said he would personally oversee the overall security arrangements. “We have planned a multi-layered security shield to ensure foolproof security during the President’s visit,” he added.
According to the police, traffic regulation and route lining have been planned in advance to facilitate the President’s movement and minimise inconvenience to the public.
The President is scheduled to attend a series of official engagements in Bhubaneswar and Kataka during her visit to Odisha from August 3 to 5. On August 4, she will travel by train from Bhubaneswar to Brahmapur.
