Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for eight Odisha districts, forecasting light rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning in the next three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 12:10 pm today, light rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts during the next three hours.
The Met department has advised residents to stay alert and keep a watch on weather conditions for any further deterioration. People have been urged to plan outdoor activities accordingly and take necessary precautions for their safety.
IMD also asked citizens to avoid open areas, stay away from trees and electric poles, and not to take shelter under kutcha structures during thunderstorm and lightning.
