Bhubaneswar: Twelve athletes from Odisha Police were felicitated on Monday for their impressive performances in Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate and Pencak Silat at national competitions.
According to reports, the felicitation ceremony was held at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania presented awards to the medal winners.
The sportspersons had excelled at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster (2026-27) held in Hyderabad and the 5th Senior National India Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in Pune.
DGP Khurania congratulated the athletes for bringing laurels to both Odisha Police and the state. He highlighted that their success was a result of hard work, discipline and team spirit, and expressed hope that they would continue to perform well in upcoming events. As incentive, silver medallists were given Rs 4,000 each, while bronze medallists received Rs 3,000.
Notable performers included WC/27 Saswati Nayak, who secured a silver medal in the Judo Cluster and a bronze in the Taekwondo Nationals; C/45 Satyaprakash Mohanty, who won two bronze medals; and WC/968 Bratati Biswaprava Pati, who claimed both silver and bronze medals in individual and team Karate events.
The function was attended by senior officers including ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar and Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, who motivated the athletes. Sports Officer Neelamadhab Swain coordinated the event.
