Malkangiri: In a bid to bridge the digital divide and improve access to technology-driven education, the Malkangiri district administration on Tuesday launched online computer coaching classes for tribal students studying in government SSD high schools and the Kalinga Model Residential School at Balimela.
The initiative is aimed at equipping students from remote and inaccessible tribal pockets with essential digital skills and exposing them to the world of information technology, helping them prepare for higher education and future career opportunities.
More than 100 students from schools in Chitrakonda, Panasput and Nandiniguda participated in the inaugural online session. The classes will be conducted every Tuesday and Friday from 3 pm to 4 pm, enabling students in far-flung areas to receive structured computer education without the need for physical coaching facilities.
To ensure quality training, the district administration has engaged a Maharashtra-based IT engineer as the chief trainer. The online sessions will focus on building computer literacy and enhancing students’ practical knowledge of digital tools and applications.
According to a post shared by the Malkangiri Collector and District Magistrate on X, the programme has been launched with the objective of connecting tribal students with the digital world and empowering them with skills that are increasingly essential in academics and the job market.
