Burla (Sambalpur): Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, has added another feather to its cap by securing a design patent for an innovative agricultural robot, marking a significant achievement in the field of research and technological innovation.
The design patent, bearing Design No. D-500508-001, was officially registered on May 1, 2026. The patented agricultural robot is aimed at promoting smart farming practices and reflects the university’s commitment to developing technology-driven solutions for the agricultural sector.
The innovation was developed by a team of researchers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Mihir Kumar Sutar and Associate Professor Dr. Sarojrani Pattnaik. The project also involved the active participation of Mechanical Engineering students Ch. Kamraju, Sunil Kumar Barik, Rajendra Majhi, Abhisek Behera, Sahil Kumar, and Nandita Mohanty.
According to a post shared on VSSUT’s official X handle, the university congratulated the entire team for the achievement and extended its best wishes for their future research endeavours.
University authorities said the patent is a testament to VSSUT’s growing emphasis on innovation and applied research.
