Kalahandi: Two suspects have been detained for questioning in connection with the murder of senior BJP leader Fakir Rana in Kalahandi district, while a search is underway to arrest two other absconding accused.
As per reports, Rana, husband of Dam Karlakhunta Sarpanch Snigdha Rana, was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday evening near the panchayat office under Madanpur Rampur police limits. The attackers assaulted him with knives at around 8 pm and fled the spot. Locals rescued the critically injured leader and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Sarpanch Snigdha has directly accused four persons from Karlakhunta village of involvement in the killing and lodged a complaint with the police.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and launched an investigation.
Two of the four accused named by the Sarpanch have so far been detained for questioning, while efforts are on to arrest the remaining two who are absconding.
