J’khand Students’ Protest: BJP MLAs Protest Outside Assembly, Demand CBI Probe

Ranchi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs on Thursday staged a protest outside the Jharkhand Assembly, accusing the state government of failing to address alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), JSSC CGL, and several other competitive examinations.

The MLAs demanded immediate corrective measures, including cancellation of the disputed examinations and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

The protest comes amid the continuing agitation by students and job aspirants over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, as the Opposition intensified its attack on the Hemant Soren-led government over the issue.

Speaking to IANS, BJP MLA Neera Yadav questioned the government’s handling of the matter and alleged that it had remained inactive despite repeated reports of irregularities over the years.

“For the last six years, irregularities have continuously been reported in examinations. So why was the government sleeping all this time? Now that the BJP is supporting the students and raising the issue in the public domain, has the government suddenly woken up?” she said.

She also questioned the decision to order a CID investigation into the matter.

“Do you want to cover up the matter by conducting a CID inquiry? The previous investigation was also a CID probe. Till today, nobody has been able to explain which company was responsible for the irregularities or reveal its name,” Yadav added.

BJP MLA Roshan Lal Choudhary extended support to the protesting students, praising them for maintaining discipline during the agitation.

Speaking to IANS, Choudhary said, “We also express our heartfelt gratitude to them for ensuring that anti-national and disruptive elements are not allowed in the demonstrations, as they did in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and for maintaining the dignity of the movement. I personally, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, stand with their struggle. We will ensure justice.”

BJP MLA Kumar Ujjwal Das also criticised the state government, alleging that it was delaying decisive action while the future of thousands of students remained uncertain.

“There is only one demand: the government should not leave the future of students hanging in uncertainty. If the government does so, it should be prepared to face the consequences,” Das told IANS.

Questioning the ongoing investigation, he added, “Why is the examination not being cancelled? The government is merely conducting a formality in the name of an investigation. Moreover, it is ordering a CID probe, which is an agency under the state government. Why is the government not ordering a CBI investigation?”

BJP MLA Navin Jaiswal also demanded that all examinations facing allegations of irregularities be scrapped and investigated by the CBI under judicial supervision.

Speaking to IANS, Jaiswal said, “Whether it is JPSC or JSSC, we are demanding that all such examinations be immediately cancelled and a CBI probe be initiated. For the past 12 days, the youth of Jharkhand have been protesting peacefully, maintaining discipline, despite facing heat, rain, hunger, and hardships.”

“They are demanding that the government immediately cancel the 11th-14th JPSC examination and recommend a CBI investigation, under the supervision of the High Court, into all examinations conducted by the accused company,” he added.

Meanwhile, the movement, led primarily by JPSC aspirants, has intensified. Despite continuous overnight rainfall, the protesters remained at the venue, refusing to call off the agitation and reiterating that they would continue their protest until their demands were addressed by the government.
