Bhabanipatana: Kalahandi Police have arrested three persons within 24 hours in connection with the murder of Fakir Rana, a BJP leader and husband of the Sarpanch of Karlakhunta village under Madanpur Rampur police station limits in Kalahandi district.
According to police, the murder was the result of previous enmity between the deceased and the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that Fakir Rana had an altercation with the accused around 8.30 pm on August 5. The argument reportedly escalated, following which the accused allegedly assaulted him as a group, leading to his death.
Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagaraj Devarakonda said police launched an intensive investigation immediately after receiving information about the incident. Considering the gravity of the case, multiple teams conducted raids at different locations, resulting in the arrest of all three accused named in the FIR within 24 hours.
Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the murder, while further legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested persons.
