Bhubaneswar: Meritorious students of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya (OAV) were felicitated at a special programme held at Iconic OAV in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for their excellent performance in the 2026 annual examinations and various national-level entrance tests.
Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, attended as chief guest and presented awards to the achievers. He congratulated the students and wished them a bright future. Smita Rout, State Project Director of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya Organization, and Tanuj Kumar Nayak, Chairman of Iconic OAV, were also present as distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nayak said that OAV is an ambitious project of the state government and has been progressing successfully for the past 10 years. He described the success of OAV students as an inspiration for others and added that Iconic OAV provides an opportunity for talented students of Odisha to fulfill their dreams. He urged students to remain disciplined and focus on receiving quality education.
The Secretary also interacted with meritorious students, as well as past and present students of OAV. During the interaction, he discussed their educational journey, strategies for exam preparation and future aspirations.
State Project Director Smita Rout congratulated the students and said this success marks the beginning of a new journey. She expressed gratitude to teachers and guardians for their role in the achievements of OAV students.
The felicitation recognized students who secured top ranks in Class 10 CBSE, Class 12 Science and Commerce, JEE and medical entrance examinations. Lavyans Meher of OAV, Badi, Nuapada and Soyam Swagat Kar of OAV, Chapatkhanda, Narla, Kalahandi were honored as Students of the Year. Cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each were given to Class 10 toppers Arshibad Martha, Arshibad Mishra, Shreya Sharmika, Shreyans Nanda and Soyam Swar Das.
Similar cash awards were presented to Class 12 Science topper Sai Soham Pradhan, Commerce topper Disha Saha, JEE OAV topper Priyush Ranjan Swain and NEET OAV topper Soyam Swagat Kar.
In addition, three students who secured admission to IITs this year received financial assistance donated by former ISRO scientist Dr. Raghav Prasad Sahu.
Lavyans Meher received Rs 20,000, Binayak Patra received Rs 30,000 and Piyush Ranjan Swain received Rs 50,000.Officials said the programme aims to honor academic excellence and encourage OAV students to perform better in competitive examinations in the coming years.
