Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen cyber crime investigations and improve the handling of digital banking fraud cases, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate on Friday organised a special half-day training programme for police officers at its headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
The programme was inaugurated by Police Commissioner S. Dev Dutta Singh in the presence of Additional Police Commissioner Narsingh Bhol. The initiative was aimed at equipping investigating officers with the latest knowledge and practical skills required to tackle the rapidly evolving landscape of cyber-enabled financial crimes.
The training featured experts from Yes Bank, with Regional Head Kishore Mandal outlining key aspects of banking security and the role of financial institutions in cyber fraud prevention. Investigation specialists Jatin Arora and Saikat Sengupta conducted technical sessions on emerging cyber fraud trends, common criminal tactics and advanced investigative methods.
Participants received detailed training on investigating a wide range of cyber offences, including digital arrest scams, online trading and investment frauds, matrimonial frauds, UPI-related frauds, mandate frauds, phishing and vishing attacks, loan application scams, plastic card frauds, money mule operations and mobile banking frauds. The sessions also covered bank statement analysis and case-based discussions to enhance investigative capabilities.
The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session and a review of the training outcomes. Senior officers present included Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Crime Unit) Swaraj Debata, Assistant Commissioner of Police (IT and Social Media Cell) Akshaya Kumar Nayak, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station, Suchismita Dash.
The Commissionerate Police reiterated their commitment to strengthening cyber crime investigations, ensuring safer digital banking practices and enhancing public awareness against online fraud, while urging citizens to remain vigilant against cyber criminals.
