Bhubaneswar: Several stations across Odisha recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on August 8, according to data released by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
According to data, the highest rainfall of 124.6 mm was recorded at Khandapada in Nayagarh district, classifying it under the very heavy rainfall category. This was the only station in the state to report very heavy rain during the period.
Heavy rainfall was recorded at 23 other stations. Kuchinda in Sambalpur district received 115 mm, followed by Kendrapada town with 110 mm, Derabis with 108 mm and Rajkanika with 102 mm, all in Kendrapada district. Nabarangapur town also recorded 101.2 mm.
Other notable amounts included Reamal in Deogarh (93.2 mm), Ghasipura in Kendujhar (90.2 mm), Batagaon and Naktideul in Sambalpur (85 mm and 82 mm respectively), and Puri town (80.3 mm).
Several more stations in Kendrapada, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurda, Deogarh and Nabarangapur districts registered rainfall between 66 mm and 80 mm. The data was issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
