Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas by August 13, according to the India Meteorological Department.
According to reports, a cyclonic circulation is currently active over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby regions, extending up to 3.1 km above sea level. Under its influence, a low-pressure system is likely to develop over the same region around August 13. The formation of this low-pressure area may lead to an increase in rainfall across various parts of Odisha. Northern Odisha and its neighbouring districts are particularly likely to witness enhanced precipitation.
Going by weather prediction, light to heavy rain is forecast today over Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Kataka, Khordha, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagada, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Anugola, Debagada and Sundargada districts. Medium to heavy showers are also expected in some other districts of northern Odisha.
Residents living in low-lying areas, flood-prone zones and places along riverbanks have been advised to remain cautious.
