Gujarat: Damaged Car Displayed On NH-48 To Warn Motorists Against Unsafe Driving

Sabarkantha: A damaged car has been put on display at an accident-prone stretch of National Highway-48 near Rasulpur in Sabarkantha as part of a joint road safety awareness initiative by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Sabarkantha District Police.

The vehicle, which was severely damaged in a serious road accident, has been placed near Rasulpur on the Himmatnagar-Prantij section of NH-48 to serve as a visual warning to motorists about the consequences of unsafe driving.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging highway users to avoid overspeeding, negligent driving and violations of traffic rules.

NHAI, in coordination with the Traffic Branch of Sabarkantha District Police, has undertaken the initiative as part of efforts to reduce accidents at identified accident-prone locations.

The authority has been carrying out safety interventions and awareness campaigns while working with agencies concerned to improve road safety.

The NH-48 stretch between Chiloda and Shamlaji carries a significant volume of traffic, making adherence to road safety rules particularly important.

Through the display of the damaged vehicle, motorists are being reminded of the potential consequences of unsafe driving and urged to exercise greater caution while travelling on the highway.

NHAI and the police have stressed the importance of complying with prescribed speed limits, wearing seat belts, maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles and driving cautiously.

Such measures, they said, can help prevent road accidents and protect both motorists and other road users.

The initiative forms part of NHAI’s broader road safety efforts, which include not only infrastructure and engineering measures at accident-prone locations but also measures aimed at promoting responsible driving behaviour and awareness of safe road practices.

NHAI has appealed to motorists using the highway to avoid overspeeding, follow traffic rules strictly and wear seat belts at all times, while giving priority to their own safety and that of other road users.
