Bhubaneswar: In a strict crackdown on road safety violations, authorities in Odisha Transport Department issued a total of 18,878 e-challans across the state in the last two days.
On August 10, enforcement teams issued 7,890 e-challans in a single day. Of these, 2,237 were for riding without helmets and 1,185 were for speeding.
The drive was intensified further on August 11, Tuesday, with 10,988 e-challans issued. Authorities also seized 28 vehicles during the enforcement. The major violations recorded on August 11 include 5,402 for riding without helmet1, 553 for speeding 415 for driving without insurance258 for not wearing seat belts.
Officials said the intensified drive is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce accidents across the state.
“For safe travel, always follow road safety rules while driving and return home safely,” officials urged commuters.
The transport department has warned that such enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to ensure stricter compliance with traffic norms.
