Dhenkanal: A youth awareness programme on the importance of building a drug-free society was organised at Dhenkanal Autonomous College under the ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Connect’ initiative.
The programme, organised by the NSS co-unit on the theme “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India”, focused on sensitising students about the dangers of substance abuse and the role of young people in nation-building.
College Principal Purna Chandra Baral presided over the programme and stressed that a developed India can be built only when the younger generation remains free from drug addiction.
Dhenkanal Additional District Magistrate (General) Ramesh Chandra Sethi, who attended as the chief guest, highlighted the crucial role of youth in nation-building and urged students to stay away from intoxicating substances to contribute to the realisation of a developed India.
Robert Wilson Bhatra, Programme Officer of Dhenkanal Autonomous College, outlined the objectives of the initiative. Youth icon Satyaprakash Mishra spoke on the roadmap for achieving the goals of a developed India, while S K Bhanja discussed practical measures and strategies to prevent drug abuse among young people and help them overcome addiction.
The programme was conducted by Kumari Shraddhanjali Swain, Programme Officer of Dhenkanal Higher Secondary School, while NSS volunteer Rituparna Mallick proposed the vote of thanks.
More than 150 students, NSS volunteers and teachers participated in the programme. Representatives of Dhenkanal Autonomous College, Government Polytechnic College, Synergy Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dhenkanal Academy of Medical Science, Women’s Degree College and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal, also attended the event.
